I Hope You Stay You.

15390785_10206637022558885_6449439843983268824_n

I hope, at the end of the day, you’re you.

I hope that the fire in your soul fuels your bravery and the criticism of society burns in the flames.

I hope you love so freely that it scares people away and attracts the deepest friendships of your life.

I hope you spike your hot cocoa to stay warm and breathe in the crisp winter air because the contrast is sacred.

I hope you fall in love so bad it hurts and he only stays if he let’s you be exactly who you are.

I hope you always stay exactly who you are.

Never a dimmed light-

never a watered down version-

always, 100% you.

I hope you eat french fries and skip the salad once in a while.

I hope you call yourself beautiful.

I hope you look in the mirror and accept yourself for your own beauty ideal.

I hope you talk to yourself like you would talk to your best friend.

I hope you practice kindness and stay genuine.

I hope you aren’t afraid to feel sadness and learn how to carry it with you.

I hope that you inspire yourself to be brave and believe in yourself to be fearless.

I hope you know that you can do anything.

Whatever you want, just do it.

I hope that you care for others in a way that makes them love you to the ends of the earth and fight like hell for what you believe in.

I hope your beliefs are never shoved down the throats of others.

I hope you listen to the silence for all that it says.

I hope you listen just to listen and not to respond.

I hope that you are missed by the ones you love and miss those you adore.

I hope you remember to smile.

I hope you aren’t too hard on yourself.

I hope that someone finds that light of yours and let’s it shine as bright as ever before.

I hope no one tries to take away your spirit.

I hope you never let them.

I hope you never apologize for what isn’t in your control.

I hope that you share yourself if only so you feel more confident in who you are.

I hope you never change.

I will always hope, at the end of the day, that you are you.

Stay you.

Love,

Anna Marie ❤

This Is How You’re Going To Love Me

DSC_0611_Fotor

This is how you’re going to love me.

You’re going to fall right in.

You’re going to realize immediately that I care really fast and all at once.

I’ve tried being the aloof, mysterious girl you’ll have to chase.

But I’m not.

You’re going to appreciate that.

You’re going to love that I never played games with you- that I never made your mind reel and question what I want.

You’re going to be scared by how open I am, it’s going to all feel like too much.

But you’ll know pretty quickly how rare it is to find someone as vulnerable yet strong as I am.

I’m going to ask you hard questions, push you to open up, say things that catch you off guard and lay it all out on the line.

You’ll be ready to handle that.

You will answer every question with thought and tell me stories until 3 am when our eyes are shutting against our will.

You will be strong enough to know what I’m offering and handle every piece of my heart with care.

You will know exactly what you’re giving to me and trust me not to give up on you.

You’re going to learn about me.

Why trust doesn’t come easy to me, what I’m scared of, what I’ve struggled through… it will make you understand why I became this version of myself.

You’re going to tell me how you’ve become the person you are.

We are going to want to know everything about each other.

We are going to ask questions.

You’re going to laugh as hard as I do about the silly things and fight for your beliefs and values.

You’re going to show kindness to everyone around you and unknowingly make me a better person.

Being around me is going to do the same.

We will empower each other, support each other and laugh with each other.

You’re going to get mad at me but you won’t leave, you’ll be the first person to stay.

Because differences will happen but we both will choose to work through them.

You’ll stay because you’ll choose to love me through the hardest parts of life and dance with me through the highlight reel of life.

You’ll become my best friend and my number one fan.

You’re going to love the simplicity of being together.

You will look at me with that “she’s the one I choose” look and it will give me butterflies.

You will find that I give too much, dream really big and love deeper than you’ve ever experienced.

You’re not going to hold back.

And the idea of love is not going to scare you after a while- maybe it will seem like a lot at first- but no, you’re going to see me standing before you and you’re going to know that if there is one place you will be for the rest of your life, it will be by my side.

I can’t wait to be by yours.

Until tomorrow,

Anna Marie

Are We There Yet?

DSC_0586_Fotor

We all want to “find ourselves” or “create ourselves”. Well, are you there yet?

Who I am is a bi-product of all of you.

Your compliments, your support, your insults.

Your presence has pushed me down, pushed me over, pushed me skyward.

Who I am is a reflection of how I chose to react to all of you.

Whether to fight with nasty words or bite my tongue, flip tables or sit at one calmly, let rage burn me down or fuel build me higher.

I am a direct correlation of responses to all of YOU.

To love fiercely as I have been loved, help a hand in need as I have been helped, pass on the kindness that has been given to me.

We can learn much easier and much quicker by following the examples of those around us… of you.

You want to know what you created?

This is who I am.

I am fiercely passionate about people.

I care vastly and deeply, sometimes quite overwhelmingly so.

I laugh frequently and uninhibitedly, scaring the pain right out of my system.

I have become stronger than I can recognize through let down after let down and rejection slapping me in the face.

I’ve been brought down to me knees to realize that I can always stand back up.

My favorite feeling in the world is sunshine kissing my skin and the ocean sand squishing between my toes.

I long for adventure through mountain tops and exploring country after country. And I’ll do it, too.

I’m undeniably comfortable with the person I’ve become and overwhelmingly excited for the woman I intend to create.

Pride is hard work and deep breaths.

Humbleness is never forgetting the struggles you’ve chosen to fight through to get you where you are.

Ambition is recognizing the struggles you will have to face to accomplish the life you want so badly to live.

The life you are living right now.

Are we there yet?

Until next time,

Anna Marie

What are you doing?

I’m going to tell you something.

In this moment, no one cares about what you’re doing.

No one cares if you’re reading a book or watching Netflix.

No one is wondering if you’re deciding to put on make up or going to curl your hair.

No one wants to know if you went on a 6 mile run or walked ten steps to the bathroom.

These moments, every moment, is about you.

I’m giving you the freedom to understand that you are allowed to be selfish.

I’m also telling you that it is completely up to you what you do.

If you choose to watch Netflix while munching on the nearest snack food for 8 straight hours, is that going to get you to your “dream life” that you ponder every so often?

Is skipping class going to give you satisfaction?

We tell our friends, family and strangers our plans, our goals and our dreams.

I want to lose weight, I want to read 20 books this next year, I want to put my phone down more often.

In the end though, we find ourselves stuck in this place that is stagnant and comfortable.

We are laying in bed thinking how much EASIER it would be to just not do anything.

It sure would, wouldn’t it?

That’s the difference between creating a life full of pushing boundaries  or staying where you are.

The need to be able to push yourself and motivate yourself every single day.

The hunger for success whether it be to eat more vegetables or smile at strangers.

The satisfaction upon completing a goal you’ve been working at for months.

No one cares what you are doing right now.

But these days that you stay stuck will turn into weeks and those weeks into months and those months into years until you realize that this is your life.

We have all thought about where we want to be in a few years but it doesn’t just magically happen.

We have to strive and push ourselves every single day for it.

We create our lives by doing things that make us happy.

So what are you going to do today that will make you happy? Not comfortable, but happy.

Until Next Time,

Anna Marie

What You Should Love

I have to brighten up a post- they’re all pretty dark lately (healing slowly).

So here are 21 things that I absolutely love.

  1. The results of a photograph after all of the constant editing and nitpicking. Like this one pictured in my post. 🙂 DSC_0131_Fotor
  2. My bed. It’s so incredibly comfortable.
  3. How excited a dog is to see  you when it’s been ages since you were last reunited.
  4. Any exotic chocolate.
  5. A raw conversation.
  6. Words that twist your mind and make you physically feel something.
  7. Traveling to a place you’ve never been.
  8. The ocean, the smell, the sound, the waves swirling around your toes.
  9. The warmth of the sun that causes your hair to stand on end.
  10. Hugging someone who is just a great hugger.
  11. The look of excitement someone gets when they talk about their passion.
  12. The first sip of coffee in the morning.
  13. When you cause genuine laughter that is uncontrollable.
  14. When a stranger or friend compliments anything about you kindly and respectfully.
  15. Watching someone let loose and thoroughly embrace their weird, fun side.
  16. The warmth of the fluffiest blankets in the world.
  17. Hugging your mom, dad, grandma or grandpa after not seeing them for a long time.
  18. Watching your favorite show on Netflix after a long day.
  19. Witnessing two elderly people still madly in love.
  20. Spraying whipped cream directly from the can into your mouth.
  21. Waking up on a Sunday morning with the whole day ahead of you.

I loved making this list more than you will ever know and so I am telling you to make your own. Reminding yourself of what you love in every day routine is so important to becoming inspired by the ordinary details.

I am only going to carry this positivity with me as I move forward.

Thank you for your constant support,

Anna Marie

Manic Mondays and Love

I wasn’t able to sit down and write today. There is something about being a college student, an employee, a business owner, a friend and a daughter that consumes my life and so today I wanted to share something with you that gave me inspiration.

It is a video about love and who love is.

It’s beautiful and it made me think quite a bit.

Enjoy. ❤

When Love Arrives

No One Knows What’s Going On

Can I be honest with you?

No one knows what they’re doing.

No one has a plan for every single thing in their life.

If they do? I can guarantee you something will lead them astray.

We live day by day, putting our feet in front of the other if only to make it to tomorrow.

Some days we make giant leaps in becoming the exact kind of human we want to be.

Be the human you needed when you were younger.

Our choices need to be selfless yet selfish. Don’t you ever do to someone what you wouldn’t want done to you.

Didn’t we all learn that in 5th grade?

Why is it so hard to get to know someone now-a-days?

Why are walls built so high?

How do we trust people anymore?

In a world filled with selfishness, who decides to be selfless?

It’s not a demand and it sure as hell isn’t easy.

It makes it a little bit easier on those around you,

but a little bit harder on yourself.

You see, when you decide to be selfless, you decide to do for others what people haven’t done for you.

You decide to care deeply about strangers just because their struggles are different and comparing battles never gave you strength.

You stop looking at yourself as an image and start to know yourself as a person.

Don’t we all just want to be seen as people?

Weren’t we told to never judge a book by its cover?

People see a future only by looking at the surface of someone and that’s why things fail.

People don’t care anymore.

They’re too involved in who’s on Facebook and who snapchatted them today.

But if we could just sit down and get to know someone face to face, I bet you’d see them a lot differently.

I bet you’d stop thinking about selfies and instagram captions and start wondering about their journey and how they became who they are today.

If we would all just stop for one second and really look at the world around us, I think we’d be surprised.

I want to see genuineness, kindness and compassion.

Because right now, when I do see that, it seems like an amazing ordeal and the truth is it shouldn’t be.

Holding the door for someone shouldn’t be out of the ordinary.

Complimenting at least one person a day shouldn’t be over the top, it should be a habit.

People need to care more about each other and lifting each other up.

It’s important to have the balance between selfishness and selflessness.

But the teeter totter is stuck.

We need more people to start walking to the other side.

Until tomorrow,

Anna Marie

Do you like you?

I love writing but some days I have to remind myself that I started doing it for my own growth and expression. So yes, depending on where I am in my life, I will be writing about tough times or insanely hilarious moments. I will be sharing stories and mysteries that race through my mind.

It’s kind of beautiful to get to know someone through their words and I believe that Inspired She Lives, in it’s purest form, is me.

So enjoy as more words continue to flow out of me!

Raindrops drip purity

They slide slowly, always lurking at our deepest flaws as if to spend the most time trying to understand them

Because they only know innocence

And are confused by what we call imperfection

Don’t you know what you’re worth?

Sunshine fights shadows to warm up how calloused we’ve become

It feels a lot like fighting ourselves to stay loving and kind

Oceans calm thousands just by washing our toes

Is that why waves retreat back into their selves after touching our pain?

Depths that were never explored and creatures left undiscovered

Maybe that is where all of our secrets go after crying to the sea

Tumbling through forests until we can finally hear our own thoughts

Is this how getting lost finally allows you to find yourself?

Dreaming of futures that we are scared to chase

Maybe this is what it’s like to get stuck in quick sand

Fighting and climbing until we create ourselves

Do you like the person who blinks at you through mirrors?

I don’t know how this passage came out of me but if I had to analyze myself, I’m sure I’m going through a lot of self-evaluations at this time in my life. I’m graduating college in the next year and with that, comes SO many big girl decisions! So at this exciting time in my life, I must consider what I want and who I am at this very moment.

I just can’t think too hard.

Happy Monday!

Until next time,

Anna Marie

I am STILL a Damn Butterfly

(A creative and magnificent sequel to this post right HERE!)

They say that your twenties are filled with change and seven hundred different versions of yourself. Well, “they” got it right.

I have changed more in the past six months than I feel like I have in my entire life.

I have jumped from version 20.0 to 20.35, skipping through different Anna’s until one new aspect sticks to me, creating this ultimate version of Anna that I’m starting to enjoy.

And as I was rolling in fuzzy blankets underneath the Christmas lights that decorate my room, I saw a shadow cast on my wall that looked like… a butterfly.

It reminded me of a small passage I wrote two nights ago that I didn’t think I would share on Inspired She Lives, but we’re all about opening up here. Acceptance and love, right?

So here it is.

I’m Still A Damn Butterfly

We get broken as a test to see how well we can transform.

We spin around and around, weaving our cocoon until the only thing we have left to do is wait.

Wait until enough time passes.

Wait for our wings to grow.

Wait for our colors to brighten.

Or just wait for our patience to run out.

But we find our strength in ourselves because that is our only option and the patience…

It stays.

And after weeks and weeks of metamorphosis, we spread our wings and realize that our wings are ready to fly.

And though our journey was long, it was beautiful.

And WE are beautiful.

🙂

Thankfully, some words pour out of me and tell me how I am feeling. These words that are written were not over thought or carefully crafted. They bled from the scars that come with change and soothed the little girl who is sick of all the villains in her life.

So thank you so much for reading. I hope your Monday conquers every other Monday before it.

Until tomorrow,

Anna Marie

Dressing Up In a Midwest College Is Apparently… a Very Big Deal

When I choose to curl my hair and dress up all cute, the truth is it is NOT for you or my peers. It is for ME. (sassy post alert)

I am pretty sure I just heard a bunch of judgmental girls snicker through my laptop screen.

It’s the truth though. When I get all dolled up, I feel so much more confident. Sure, I can say the whole “I don’t give a flying fairy about what I look like” and pretend that it is true. I really could and I bet some days I even mean it but mostly, I’m lying.

Every single girl knows that when you try to look your best, you strut just a little bit harder and hold your chin just a little bit higher. It’s a boost to your self-esteem to hear people say you look like a dream. Who doesn’t love compliments and awkwardly trying to accept them?

As a college student in the midwest, I get a lot of looks for trying every day.

Last year, I spent days in sweats and leggings and that is fine, but I wanted a change. So I promised myself that I would make an effort to dress nice this semester in order to gain self-confidence and can I be honest? It has WORKED. When I feel all dolled up and pretty, I feel really good about myself.

These students don’t know that though. They wonder who that girl is because let’s face it “she’s either a freshman or trying way too hard”. I’ve been asked by people why I dress up so much or what the special occasion is and in reality, it’s just to make myself feel better.

A good outfit can change your whole mood.

So here in the midwest, there is not much “fashion” at all. People wear camo and sweats and that’s fine. I will sometimes as well. However, I’m starting to think that people are going to think I wasn’t born here if I keep up this effort.

So ambitious little fashionistas reading this, you keep going. Put on that red lipstick and curl your hair to the equivalence of an LA model. Strut your stuff no matter where you are and just dress up for you. You are the one who deserves to feel beautiful.

Until Next Time,

Anna Marie
