What You Should Love

I have to brighten up a post- they’re all pretty dark lately (healing slowly).

So here are 21 things that I absolutely love.

  1. The results of a photograph after all of the constant editing and nitpicking. Like this one pictured in my post. ūüôā¬†DSC_0131_Fotor
  2. My bed. It’s so incredibly comfortable.
  3. How excited a dog is to see ¬†you when it’s been ages since you were last reunited.
  4. Any exotic chocolate.
  5. A raw conversation.
  6. Words that twist your mind and make you physically feel something.
  7. Traveling to a place you’ve never been.
  8. The ocean, the smell, the sound, the waves swirling around your toes.
  9. The warmth of the sun that causes your hair to stand on end.
  10. Hugging someone who is just a great hugger.
  11. The look of excitement someone gets when they talk about their passion.
  12. The first sip of coffee in the morning.
  13. When you cause genuine laughter that is uncontrollable.
  14. When a stranger or friend compliments anything about you kindly and respectfully.
  15. Watching someone let loose and thoroughly embrace their weird, fun side.
  16. The warmth of the fluffiest blankets in the world.
  17. Hugging your mom, dad, grandma or grandpa after not seeing them for a long time.
  18. Watching your favorite show on Netflix after a long day.
  19. Witnessing two elderly people still madly in love.
  20. Spraying whipped cream directly from the can into your mouth.
  21. Waking up on a Sunday morning with the whole day ahead of you.

I loved making this list more than you will ever know and so I am telling you to make your own. Reminding yourself of what you love in every day routine is so important to becoming inspired by the ordinary details.

I am only going to carry this positivity with me as I move forward.

Thank you for your constant support,

The Good (Every Day) Life

Of course I’m going to name this blog post after a song written by my favorite band of all time. (That’s One Republic… listen to them.)

But they have inspired me to stop thinking about all of the things I don’t have in my life and to start appreciating the good things that I DO have.

It’s such an easy thing to do, isn’t it? I wish I had a nicer car, a better apartment, true love, a best friend or perfect muscles. We get lost in wishes instead of thanking the universe for what we already have in our lives.

I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had to travel, the friends and family I have gotten so close to recently, the ability my body has to take me on adventures, a comfortable bed and an amazing support system.

So I decided to make a list that I hope you guys and gals can relate to. It’s a list of every day things that really make me happy. It’s appreciating what you do have that makes you happy and THAT is what creates a good life.

SO HERE WE GO.

I love a good laugh with others.

Hold tight hugs.

Really savoring coffee when I do drink it.

Walking barefoot in grass/sand.

Feeling squeaky clean after a shower.

Finding an outfit that makes you wink at your own reflection whenever possible.

The smell of an impressively wonderful shampoo or perfume.

Sitting down with your plate after cooking it and staring at the masterpiece you’ve created. (Pizza anyone?)

Drinking a big glass of water when you’re thirsty.

Playing with my hair.

The feeling of being in a really clean house right after you finish scrubbing and dusting.

The perfect temperature outside.

When your favorite song comes on.

Getting into a really good book.

Getting lost on Pinterest.

Getting a phone call from someone you love.

AND BOY… could I go on and on…¬†

When I think of all of these things that happen almost every day, I become so grateful for the small happiness that each one brings me. I am so lucky to be able to appreciate such weird things that I literally go through on a daily basis. It’s hard not to take them for granted but I told myself that when you’re focused on everything you’re missing out on, you are forcing your mind to think that you are have to fix it¬†and therefore you can’t be happy.

I know that there are things that would make me extra¬†happy right about now. A billion dollars. A car. Hawaii. But am I going to let those missing pieces cause me to feel like I can’t be happy? No.

The picture on the puzzle is still beautiful with a few missing pieces. You don’t have to have all of them in order to know what you want or what the bigger picture is. You can still have that puzzle as finished as possible until you stumble upon that next piece. Until then, let me tell you, people will still see the beauty if you can see it yourself.

So why don’t you reflect a little today. Think about¬†five¬†things that happen almost every day that make you happy. Enjoy them a little more than usual.

Until next time,

Simplest Pleasures

Laughing for the first time during the day, running into a good friend or when sunshine peaks through the cold winter sky.

I was thinking of things that happen so much during a week that gives you so much satisfaction. These are such small things that happen but if you recognize their small greatness, I guarantee you that you will feel even just a little bit happier. So, I decided to make this post a list of 10 small successes that I enjoy every week.

1. Tossing a paper ball and sinking it into the trash can. Really though, that jump of pure joy at the end of the shot? Completely necessary.

2. When you sit down all clean after a shower. It’s such a good feeling to be all squeaky fresh. Who doesn’t love smelling wonderful after a long hot shower?

3. Coming home from your day and knowing you only have a date with the couch and Netflix later on. Let’s be honest, Netflix controls my life and my emotions.

4. When you wake up on Friday. There’s no better feeling then knowing it’s Friday and you have the weekend ahead of you. Especially because I have no commitments on Fridays.

5. Finishing an assignment. Whether that’s at work, personal, or for school, it feels so good to just be done with something.

6. Crashing into bed. What feels better than cuddling up with blankets and feeling warm? It’s probably one of the highlights of every day. I’ll never feel more comfortable.

7. Feeling full and content. Not stuffed or slightly hungry, but that perfect amount of yum just sitting in your tum. I love food. Bad for you food.

Like I said, I love food. 2015.

Like I said, I love food. 2015.

8. When you’re done brushing your teeth. You lick over your chops a few times and it just feels so good to have a clean mouth and minty clean breath.

9. That feeling on Monday night, when you know that you have yet again conquered another Monday and don’t have to deal with it for another week. Mondays suck forever.

10. When you cross something off of your check-list (mentally or physically). What is more satisfying then driving a line right through those words that haunted you for days?

11. (BONUS) When my man comes home and I get to see him after a long day. What could be better? Hugs, kisses and cuddles.

These are a few of my favorite things. I DARE you to make a list of your own (mentally or physically). Just think of a few simple pleasures that make the days and weeks seem a little more fulfilling. Or a LOT more fulfilling. Have a great weekend everyone!

Until next week,

Anna Marie
